NACA is excited to host Kiran Krishna Shrestha (the Co-Founder and Team Lead of Nepa-laya). Nepa-laya has been one of the leading book publishers and an art management company. Our conversations with Kiran will explore both the opportunities and challenges for academic publications and outreach activities in Nepal.

Speaker: KIRAN KRISHNA SHRESTHA is a Management Specialist, Producer, Leader, and an Occasional Writer himself. He leads Nepa~laya, an entrepreneurial initiative that works with various mediums related to creative art including book publications. He focuses on promoting, producing, and managing music and musicians, producing and publishing books, and producing non-fiction films. In 2025, Nepalaya has reached the twentieth year of publishing. The journey that started in 2005 with the publication of 'Palpasa Café', an award-winning novel is credited to rewire the syntax of post-war literature in Nepal. Kiran has filmed, directed and produced multiple independent documentaries which include – the award winning Bhedako Oon Jasto… “In search of a song”

Kiran has played a key role in reviving and managing the band Nepathya, serving as its official promoter since 2001. 2025 marks nepalaya - Nepathya’s 25 years of collaboration. Learn more

Moderator: DR. ARATI MALEKU is Secretary of NACA, currently Associate Professor in the College of Social Work. Dr. Maleku is a social work scholar-activist investigating the social, cultural, and structural contexts of migration, social rights, and health equity. Her research program explores how sociostructural determinants of health influence immigrant well-being and inclusion outcomes. Learn more
